Pacific policy

To compliment my last post, I thought I would add a little too it by taking a look at this policy brief on climate change and fisheries in the Pacific. It focuses on the main economic considerations and adaptations from the report in my last blog, but condenses it into bullet points. It focuses on  ensuring that fishing is environmentally friendly, promoting healthy fish stocks and reallocating caught tuna to ensure that there is food security in urban areas. You might think that this is a lot of fuss over tuna, however, I think it shows just how important the fish are both economically and culturally to Pacific Islands countries and Territories, and how certain communities will be far more affected by climate change than others.

Anyway, if that hasn't got you excited about the Pacific, hopefully this will. This a video of a fish with a transparent head. It's called a Pacific Barreleye fish. It actually lives in temperate waters across the world, not just the Pacific, and this was filmed in an aqauarium. However, it is fairly amazing and is just another reason why we need to start looking after our oceans more!
